THE WANTING (Électriciennes' Remix)

EAT/KISS

The crackling of ice in an Old Fashioned glass. A handsome stranger on a train, on a night you can’t remember. An opening, a play, a vernissage. The memory of a sunset that happened much too fast. Lovers lost and films forgotten. The raw electricity, the sound of a Minimoog on vinyl.
Eat/Kiss. An idea, a sound, a longing. A suit that fits. Some songs, some thoughts – some hazy shadows. Some velvet notes that reach you in the corner of a basement bar you’d never heard about before tonight. Eat/Kiss. Highbrow pop, chill grooves, and a dash of bitters.

COLLABORATING WITH DANIELA LUNA FOR 14TH STREET

Anticipating the trend for the nth time, Daniela opened Appetite Miami incarnation in Allapattah, before Allapattah was cool. The Hours Strange enlisted artist/pianist Rebecca White for the video of Carlos Imperatori produced ’14th Street’. Watch Charlie’s take on it here (interview in Spanish).

WORKING WITH NAGAYA’S ALYÖNA LEE

Way before she went on to front Nagaya, Alyöna and Électriciennes both lived in Shanghai, and they had a chance to work on ‘To Be The One’, a song included in the album ‘Polaroids’.  This video (right) was shot in Khabarovsk, right before the pandemic force the city to close.

DOPPELGANGER

In a rather unassuming corner of San Telmo, there is this gem of a bar. We may not have spent there as many evenings as we wished we did, but the few have been – every single one – memorable in their own right. The adjacent playlist was created in an all too futile attempt to capture the magic of its nights.

"I had a dream. I got everything I wanted. Not what you would think. And if I'm being honest, it might have been a nightmare."

VIDEO HIGHLIGHT

SELECTED TRACKS SHARAREH
Transpacific Lounge Regulars
"When I was living in Shanghai, we had a friend married to an Iranian dancer, and I was listening to a lot of Persian music. It never occurred to me to attempt anything of the sort, but when my good friend Muhammad Habibi Guerra told me that he had got himself a santoor, it was too much of a coincidence - and this hypnotic tune was born" (Charlie T)
SELECTED TRACKS GLYCERINE
Bar St James feat. Gabriela Flores
Victim of its own success, this iconic 90s song became such a hit by rockstars 'Bush', that it's easy to miss the nuances and subtleties of the track. Bar St James sets out to look past the distortion and find the delicate fragile spirit of this classic.
SELECTED TRACKS JUST DROPPED IN
Électriciennes feat. Denise Mininfield
"I first saw Denise at Heyday, an iconic Jazz Bar in Shanghai that's survived since the 1920's; she was killing it with an eclectic band of international stars. I credit the stiff Negronis with infusing the courage in me to approach her on her break and suggest that we did this song together." (Charlie T)

DJ WORKS AND REMIXES

SOMETIMES WE DANCE

Although our default mode here at Eat/Kiss veers more towards hidden bars with rare whiskies and ridiculously pricey hi-fi’ed turntables, sometimes we also feel the need to party, jump on the proverbial table and break a think or two (hopefully not our backs). Here’s the section where you’ll find the music we’re doing when we hit that stage.
