Waiting

Lyrics

Waiting

This waiting
is exasperating me.
Always around you,
but you don’t see me.
You look right through

This knowing
that I need just a chance;
and then the feeling
that it may never come.

But I love the way that it hurts,
and I know all the places you go.
‘Though I wait and I look from the sidelines
I know that my chance has been waiting out there.

And I love this form of pretense.
‘Cause I know why it is that you come.
While I wait and observe from the sidelines,
I know that my chance has been waiting out there.

Waiting…
Time and time again.
Close – yet so far away…
You don’t see me.
And i live for you.

Feeling
that it takes just a chance;
and sometimes thinking
that it could be so close.

A powerful ballad 10 years in the making, the song is a testament to the bravado and hopeful optimism of the years of youth - when everything is possible and everyone looks attainable. In a deeper sense, the song touches upon the darker side of infatuation, when even longing and absence can bring pleasure - as long as our energy keeps being channeled towards the object of our desire. Musically the song meanders between intimate introspection and a powerful crescendo, aided by the tasteful articulation of a Spanish guitar played by Henry Franci. Sol delivers the vocals with a nuanced understanding of the story she tells, going from conflicted hesitation to unbridled optimism, hitting every note and every emotion in the journey. Waiting was produced and recorded by Charlie T (a.k.a. Électriciennes) and mixed by Matheus Antunes and will be available in all platforms on September 30, 2022 on Eat/Kiss Records.
